Where's Avebury?

Tom Robinson seems to have got a lot of bad press from Stukeley.
He blamed him for destroying the Sanctuary stones.
These were found a few years ago in a nearby barn floor.
They can now be seen in a garden wall at West Kennet complete with medeaval stone breaking marks on some of them.
Stukeley never gave Aubrury credit for his discovery of Avebury but claimed it for himself.
He also stretched the shape of the Sanctuary and elongated the beckhampton avenue to fit his own nutty serpent theory.

Yes, all of that is true, and more (I thought it was John someone-or-other who was responsible for the removal of the Sanctuary stones?), and yet both Stukeley's pictorial and written records are still an invaluable source of information and reference). The grand bird's-eye view of Avebury, mentioned above for example, would be a hard to act to follow even today without the convenience of modern resources.
