VBB does make some good points but on balance I tend to have the same feeling as you Littlestone.
How about a compromise - now that we know how effective foamhenge stones can be let's have an annual Avebury Stonefest when all the gaps are filled with models for a week? That way the "feeling" or at least different speculations about the feeling could be captured each year, but with zero damage or irrevokable mistakes.
