Perhaps making all roads into Avebury "access only", i.e. for residents and deliveries, would be the perfect answer. That would include the road beside the Avenue, obviously.

well thats the idea, its being looked at over the next 5 years.
Large traffic would be re-routed via Calne or Marlborough.
Better than a tunnel eh?
If the arable land is given over to pasture then thats less farm traffic as well.
No crops = no cropcircles = no US visiters seeking instant enlightenment.
Of course the fear then is that Avebury becomes a Show Village for the NT,
how quaint....
