I wasn't at Avebury this year, having gone to Stonehenge from Foamhenge. However, if the drummers had been asked to stop so that the locals could get some sleep, then I'd assume that the request woud have been made well before 3am.

The only other 'trouble' (apart from a druid being offered drugs, which is a personal issue) mentioned is the smashing of a window at the Post Office, which would not have been witnessed by the vast majority but could well taint the image of all of the revellers.

I understand what you mean about them being asked to stop pre-3am, but surely given the number of police about, residents would have approached the police to get the drummers to stop?

Whether you saw bad things at solstice or not is irrelevant.

One man was arrested in the ladies toilets for heroin.
One man had crack cocaine (reliable source)
The drummers who would not shut it were outside Buffie , Crone of Avebury's, van and a majority of whom did not do ceremony but saw it as a good excuse to party.

The warband view is baised in the way of finding the right to party. This is counter productive to the true pagan cause of acceptance. No other religion celebrates it's holy days on the nearest convenient Saturday. We are viewed by many as a joke because of this attitude. I can talk. I used to be that way.

FACT Pub prices are going up to around £3 a pint.
FACT The post office is closing down.
FACT the parish council has moved to have the Car Park closed on Sabbatts and have been granted it even though the police advise against it.

My cause is to fightr for my religious rights. Not to fight so that drop outs can take class A drugs and be abusive to old ladies.

Personal experiences from a person living there and listening to everyone is what I give. If it can't be swallowed then the person offended is most probably coming from the wrong direction.

p.s. How purile to post a link to the warband site.
