Stukeley's book

close

If anyone is interested I am now in the process of putting the full text of Stukeley's "Abury, a Temple of the British Druids" on line. This will take some time to complete....current state is available here:
http://www.avebury-web.co.uk/AburyWS/AburyWS.html

Excellent! I typed all the words on the Abury chapters for my CD but left off the first 3 which are all Rollrights and the mad ravings at the end.
I'm sure it will be a popular addition to your site.

"interested" ! I should say so !

Many thanks,

VBB

Thanks, it's something I've been waiting for for a long time.

The entire book including all the plates is now on line....I hope it is of interest.

Great job Lithop!
Looking at the frontspiece I noticed that Stukeley has completely missed stone 73, the large fallen stone in the eastern entrance worn smooth by generations of childrens bums.
I have checked through his earlier rough sketches and it isn't on any one of them!

Lithop - this is fantastic!

Well done you! I've not seen a lot of this before... Damn shame though - this company's getting no work out of me for the rest of the day now! ;o)
