The one in the ditch is part of the huge stone that fell in 1722 which Reuban Horsall described to him.
"It measured full 22 feet long. Reuben Horsall clerk of the parish a sensible man and lover of antiquity, remembers it standing. And when my late lord Winchelsea (Heneage) was here with me, we saw three wooden wedges driven into it, in order to break it into pieces."

It was the partner to the Swindon stone and measured 22 feet when on the ground beating the Obelisk by 1ft. People still say the obelisk was the tallest tho.

There are sketches of the stone when it recently fell in the Gough folder at the Bodlean.

Have just been looking at Stukeley's earlier 1723 sketch of the same area which shows 2 pieces in the ditch....guess both were pieces of the Swindon's partner which must have disappeared soon after. Interesting that he shows that same "rogue" stone on both drawings and Keiller found nothing.
