When the yellow lines were announced I was told it was the police that wanted them rather than the NT, but almost in the same breathe that the lines were intended to protect archaeology at the sides of roads - but what actually happened is that cars parked beyond the yellow lines and directly on the areas needing protection.

This judgement is fascinating, and I wonder if the NT will make a case around numbers of visitors and the freeflow of traffic.
