Boscawen-Ûn 6

Yeah, last minute decision. We've go a handfasting to go to, but it's in Bank Holiday/Half Term, and all the prices have doubled for that week, which puts it just out of our reach at the moment, so we're going the week before instead.

Hopefully, I'll make it up to Watch Croft this time (keeping desperately on topic), which I've not seen yet. I might also try to get permission to see the Boscawen-Un stone - the one that can't be seen from the circle. Plus some more wells, churches, barrows etc....

Appraisals are coming up at work, so that'll be my chance to see what the chances are of permanent telecommuting. :-)

Sometimes, if I park somewhere I think is a bit 'iffy' - a farmer's field or something, I put a note in the windscreen saying 'gone to look at stone circle' and include my mobile number. If there's no-one to ask, and no-one about, I think it's only courtesy if there's a possibility you're on private land.

Obviously, I never block roads or entrances.

I've been all over Ireland and Scotland looking for circles, and have never EVER met with any farmers/land owners that were hostile to me. Most are happy to chat and often, I suspect, quite proud they have something on their land worth visiting.

Hi Ocifant

'Scuse my ignorance but what is a handfasting?

Cornwall is looking great at the moment...I was at Dry Tree menhir last friday and all over the Lizard the colours of spring are awakening. (There ends the message from the independant Cornish tourism group!)

Hope all is well with you both, have a good time down west.

Mr H
