Goddess carving

close

I'm off to Cornwall for a few days as of tomorrow and have arranged to go and see the Fogou again.

Has anyone seen this Goddess carving in the entrance? And if so, where am I supposed to be looking?

Last time we went I had no knowledge of it's aparent existence, so this time I would like to see it if it's there...

Or am I gonna be sadly disappointed?

I think it's sposeta be on the left as you go in, but I've not heard anyone say it's very evident - certainly not spectacular!!

In the TMA telly prog, Julian sez summat bizarre which I think basically means he can't see it even tho someone's pointing at it....

Rob - the owner will possibly know, tho I know he's not been there that long. If he does, I'm sure he'll show you coz he seemed like a diamond geeza when we met him.

Bast!

No, seriously, have a *great* time :-) I've got my jealousy under control, honest officer!

As for the carving, I've not seen it on two trips to Boleigh. I'm told it's a matter of faith. Read into that what you will...

A. ::exits mumbling to self:: Cornwall, Drenthe, lucky b*ggers don't know how well off they are...

Thanks for your help, you lot!

> Never known it to be viewed a 'goddess' carving though

Ah - that'll be me and my inability to store even the most elemental bits of information! I only had a brief mention of it lodged in my head, and just presumed it'd be a female thang cos I presume fogous to be female... I really should pay more attention! ;o)

> Read the book if you can get it, if not you can have my copy....

I bought the book last time I was there, but haven't got round to reading it yet, unfortunately! I dug it out last night, just so I knew where all my Cornwall books were, and left it, once again, unopened...

As for it being "a matter of faith"... Oh, yes - We've come across these before, haven't we? Faces in the Avebury stones? Pchaw! ;o)

I'll report back on my return...

Thanks again

PS - Oci: now you know how I feel when you go on your dozens of trips to Cornwall every year! ;o) Actually - I'm surprised we've not bumped into each other there yet!
