Photo Confusion

close

I have been siting here looking at the two photos of Bury Down Hillfort for some time now......I aint too sure they is the right hillfort.

Even allowing for the work the CAU have done (see pure joys notes) I can't make things out. There is no woodland up there and the lane leading to a settlement just don't fit in.
I wonder if Phil could clear things up on this?

judging solely from the 2 aerial pics and the OS map, it doesn't look the same. The pic in the CAU annual review I mentioned isn't of much help - it just shows some conservation work being done to the bank on one side of the fort.

Hi Mr H,
The photo was given me by an uncle who was lucky enough to convince a local pilot it would be great to fly around Cornwall taking lovely photos of stone cirles and Hillforts. It is quite possible that being up so high where you can easily lose your bearings that he got the wrong site.

I think if I study Craig Weatherhill's books may be able to work out which one it may be. Thanks for pointing this out. Carry on with the good work.
