Ey up Dave!

The Bradup stone circle, pure & simple, was at SE 0896 4392. I was unaware of any action o behalf of the gas-board, but before its destruction from this coordinate (the remaining stones - several of which were buried - were uprooted & dragged to the end of the field by the wall) someone dumped some oil-drums in the middle of the circle at the end of the 1970s or early '80s. I doubt this had owt to do with the gas-people (unless it's some weird ritual they gerrup to when passing megalithic sites!). If anyone ever wants a foray to the exact spot of this now destroyed site - English Heritage members included - I'd be more than willing to show anyone its old position. It might be worth a few ventures here from occasional TMA members, if only to assess the reaction - if any - of the happy-chappy who lives in the house 200 yards away and who, in my opinion, was responsible for the site's destruction. (if I'm wrong matey, I truly apologise)

If that is definately the site (to the south of the farm on the west side of the road), then check out the aerial pic. It might be nowt, but there could be the trace of a semi-circular shape in the field to the east of Bradup Farm...

So that's yet another day out to plan! Has Kozmik Ken moved up here yet? I reckon he'd be up for a good rummage about round there again too?

I wonder how the confusion arose over the grid refs? (See aformentioned article and newspaper report on the link)...
Has Paul Kenyon any updated info for the actual grid refs after he'd decided he'd got it wrong?
