Anybody got any idea about this site?

In Monk Wood just outside Alton in Hampshire there are clear signs of earthworks which have become quite heavily overgrown. The Ordnance Survey map simply says "Earthworks" in its usual old english style. I've walked past them a few times and wondered. They seem to be very steep sided which points towards something more recent than the usual range of sites covered by MA, but I couldn't help wondering if any other contributors have seen them and perhaps have some info. They're beside the Hangar Way footpath.

Just trying to be helpful - this map http://www.hants.gov.uk/walking/hangers/section1.html says they are medieval? They don't show up as scheduled monument on the Magic map site (blah blah blah rhiannon and her Magic map yeah yeah yeah).
This page http://www.hants.gov.uk/hampshiretreasures/vol06/page046.html
has a little more.

I'll get on with some work now.

This page mentions them as being 'ancient earthworks', but ...

Perhaps one of the contact numbers at the bottom might be able to provide some info.

Shall we start a sweepstake?

Prehistoric?
Roman?
English Civil War?
