I feel a name drop coming on..........
I was up here with my new friend Margaret on Friday. If I remember rightly, I'm still a little dazed and confused, If you walk up the hill the stones are not visible until you reach this point, or something like that.

according to Margaret Curtis it's a viewing platform apparently, but having been there on Friday I don't buy that theory at all. It's a pretty poor position for a viewing platform as it's quite a bit lower down than the circle, and there are various other raised points nearby which would be much better suited

so I reckon it's the remains of a small cairn
