Not sure what they should use to clean up the white horse of Westbury, though a layer of natural chalk would seem the obvious solution. But I note that Lafarge cement works are going ahead with putting in larger kilns, so presumably there will be compulsory purchase of land for quarrying fairly near the White Horse.. expect that won't add much to the visual impact of the ridge.

It does seem a bit daft that they concreted it over - it wasn't that long ago? If Westbury are so proud of their horse I'm sure they could find a few volunteers to clean up a chalk version every now and again. I haven't been close up recently but from a distance it does look a right state at the moment, like it's wearing a blanket. I didn't know Lafarge were expanding - I thought they'd already been in trouble over dodgy emmissions so to let them do even more seems mad.
