Welcome back you lot!

Glad you all enjoyed your hols...

Did anyone manage to get out to Rubha Charnain, perchance?

Or the Sildinis sites?

I would be intersted to know why Margaret doesn't think theat they are the real thing.....

Didn't get to Rubber Thingy Goff, ran outta time.

Ah, now then, Vicster!!!

I printed out the TMA page for the Sildinis thangs, but without me realising it was the same place, Margaret suggested me & Jamie should go & take a look at 'something' when we went down to Fang(s).

We're with you - some sorta kerb circle (probly cairn circle) & slightly confusing cairny thing. And I think either someone's got the wrong end of the stick or Margaret's changed her mind (I suspect the former) coz it seemed to me from what she said that it's just that Margaret doesn't think it's a stone circle!

Certainly beautiful, esp in the sun!!!!

I deffo wouldn't doubt they're prehistoric & as I say, I don't think Margaret does. I'd vote to remove the 'disputed site' status, but not sure the description 'stone circle' is right, tho I know there are quite a few sites that seem halfway between - like Ringmoor, which is on here as a stone circle....

Hi Moth

Thanks for that, I'm really pleased someone else got to see them too.

I think you are right; the confusion is that the archaeologist is insisting that it is a circle, I'm pleased that Margaret acknowledges it has some provenance.

Did you get any pix?

I wasn't convinced it was a stone circle either - looked kind of cairn-like to me. As you say, Margaret didn't dispute it was old, just not convinced it was a circle - probably because it isn't similar to any others on the island. Joolio thinks it's a circle if that's worth anything.

Took a tramp around the hill opposite to see if there was anything there, a couple of possibles including a standing stone which may or may not have been part of some other stones.

Anyone notice the strangely flat area on the hills behind? (formed a kind o U on the horizon) I went and had a look and it was flat enough to have been a cultivated area, but there was a fence running down the middle of it. Possible a viewing platform I thought, although the angle wasn't quite right for the part of sleeping Beauty I thought might reveal something.
