It does take the blur off the edges of the stones though. I'd not tried the idea of bumping up the radius first, then doing another pass with the radius down, I always do low radius, then now else, so I tend to end up with noisy skies. In the case of that Callanish pic, the sky was noisy as feck.

Mind, I know what you're saying about monitors. My desktop one is right next to the window, makes colour managment for printing a right pain too.

Get a copy of Neat Image, http://www.neatimage.com/download.html it does an amazing job on noise and it can also sharpen at the same time as reducing noise. Its pretty fecking amazing but you have to be careful with areas of high detail like grass and closeups of stones. Definitley one of the bst bits of software out there and has saved my like once or twice when I under-exposed massively. Try the auto settings on full resolution files, you'll be amazed!
