featuring the top 'must-see' sites in the way they are right now (double page photograph, then double page of map, directions, ground plan and details) and then having a simpler list of the lesser sites in case anyone wants to see these too.
;^)

Shame nobody's prepared to publish.

Thanks!

I'm looking more and more at self publishing, but the book will have to be revised and edited if I do. I am already working on this and have worked out a way to get it down to 276 pages from the current 320 through editing the sites. There are quite a few sites i have included that don't need to be featured as extensively as I have (basically, in plain English, there's bugger all to see) so these could be included as "also in this area" or as a general list at the back.

I'm also working on a experiment to see how it looks in black and white rather than full colour. It would be a shame to do this, but it would cut production cost down considerably (at lulu.com it would reduce the cost from £30 per copy to produce to £11) and it may be a way to get the book out there initially and hopefully then someone will pick it up and publish it for real and in colour.

The main part of the work I have to do right now is to revise the maps as they are too close to the OS maps. Have been working on this all day today and so far so good.

Having talked to John Barnatt I have also realised that there are many sites missing from the book that should be included, but I will probably only add these as a 'other sites' list at the back.

Finally, I had to laugh today as I realised that after doing all the work for Ash Cabin Flat circle, including site visits, creating the map and sketchplan and writing about it etc. it somehow didn't make it into the book when I designed it! A good reflection of how rushed it was to do it all in time for my MA and how much work I need to go back and do to make sure it is all correct.

Still, I saw today that the site is now much clearer thanks to a recent fire, so might be good to revisit!

One way or another it will be published!
