This is how I see the situation:

Many of us - myself included - saw a stone setting near to The Druids Circle and wrongly assumed it was Circle 278. greywether subsequently posted a photo of the real Circle 278:

.........a ringcairn at the exact location of Circle 278 ring cairn.

The stone setting doesn't seem to have had much attention paid to it by the archaeos and it remains un-named. So, if we want a name for it, then we should make one up between ourselves - no-one else is going to do it.

While we're at it, we should come up with some names for Circle 278 and Circle 275, becuse they aren't names, they're numbers - and they both deserve better.

Is there any official procedure for giving an ancient site a name, or renaming?

Just curious... there was a suggestion way up the thread!

Cheers
