Taken on a ride yesterday at Gray Hill (About midday).

Spooky. 360degree rainbow around the sun. Is it normal, time of the year, polution ? I'm sure it's explainable.

Ooh, tha's niiice!

I got a similar pic from Men-An-Tol last year - dunno what causes it! Me just like... :D

Moth and me saw a 360deg rainbow at Vic Falls in Zambia earlier this year. It was incredible! Especially when, as you walk through the spray, they follow you! It was too wet to get the camera out though.

saw the same thing at work (i work outdoors) yesterday. Its a halo (or corona) and i've seen it before a fair few times. Happens when the light interacts with the moisture in the air (clouds), same as a rainbow in prinicple, 'cept it's in the sky around the object (sun or moon) rather than touching the ground.

see www.atoptics.co.uk for some lovely images.

tis a beautiful thing :-)

During a holiday up in Scaaawtland, I once drove through a rainbow. It was the most bizarre thing. Approaching it and realizing we were about to to actually go into it was weird enough, but when 'inside it' it actually seemed to keep-up with the car and follow us down the road, almost as if it was very wide and taking us a minute or so to drive out the other side. It was very odd indeed.

I had a small one appear above the bonnet of an old car a few years back driving up the A1 to Scotland in the rain and sun. It 'hovered' above the paintwork for at least two minutes on a nice straight bit of road, shame there were no cameras back then :(
