Looks fabulous. I'm spending a week in St Ives in September - without access to a car. Is it possible to get to this site from there by public transport?
Sorry, just answered this on your comment! :)

Yes it is. You'll need to get to Camborne (14, runs at least hourly), then you can either get the Praze-an-Beeble service (I think it's the 45) which if you have a nice bus driver will drop you about a mile southwest of the quoit (turn off for Gernick/Carwynnen) or you can get the bus to Troon (47?) and walk from there, a similar distance from the northeast.

If you're at St Ives you may also like to visit Zennor Quoit not too far up the B3306 to the west. Oh and don't forget to seek out the possible 'rock-art' at Carwynnen while you are there.

Many thanks for the information tsc - I will make a note of your directions now and hope to get there. I still have the booklets 'Antiquities of West Cornwall - and how to get there without a car' from when I visited West Cornwall in the spring of 2010. Also - 'Cornwall' Archaeological Heritage', so hope I can get to some of the sites I missed back then. Mainly just chilling out though ....

Thanks Sanctuary, will definitely try for Zennor Quoit too, if it accessible by public transport and/or foot - have made a note.
