I was originally looking at the trade links between Scotland and Ireland, after reading of the large number of Antrim axes found in Aberdeenshire. There are a number of papers out there on this, but I have only found a few extracts so far.

It would be interesting to discover if they were actually used or merely exchange . Aberdeenshire also had a healthy trade with SW Europe , hence the Jadeite , also found in D&G etc . It looks like all the N.Atlantic areas were on regular visiting terms whether it's sharing burial traditions or trade .

Just doing a little research, any views on Facing the Ocean: The Atlantic and Its Peoples 8000 BC-AD 1500 by Barry Cunliffe? a book i have not come upon before but looks interesting.

Never read it Brian , does look good though . I am always struck by how coastal contact would haev been more common than the long overland trip .when your'e on the coast of Cumbria ,Argyll , Antrim ,Down , Louth , Anglesey , I of M , D& G etc .your'e looking across at your neighbours only a boat ride away .
