Thanks for all the info. What was interesting was that the stones are all contained with the modern boundaries of Cullaun and Timoney. Also many stones have little packing and could be toppled easily and that there are no stones in the wooded areas. These may point to a more modern date for the stones. However, there are definitely many stone pair with alignments...which could be part of a folly...but if you were to make a folly wouldn't you make some stone circles and rows and not have loads of random stones dotted around the place? If the Parker-Hutchinsons wanted standing stones I'm sure they could have done better than a random collection of smallish stones.
