Hmm, there were a couple of posters up last time I went alluding to this.

Ken's remarks in that article about not even being able to see it are right off. I will admit you need a clear day, one where the smog is less than normal, but it is clearly visible when you can see it.
I've yet to get a photo of it, but I will one day (I hope)...
