MACHRIE MOOR

Arran's wonderful in every way I reckon! Especially megalithically!!!

Machrie Moor's the mummy & daddy, but there's tons of great stuff to see. At the time I visited, I didn't used to post stuff on here unless nobody had been there before.

Then by the time I added my photos (wish the weather'd been better & I had a better scanner!) I couldn't remember all the details well enough to write fieldnotes. I'd end up just regurgitating Burl with a few superlatives thrown in. (Actually, that'd probly be an improvement on my usual style....)

Have fun - you're infer a treat!

Burl Ives? No seriously thanks for help, actually it's me first stone circle ever apart from flashing by stonehenge in a motor as a kid and on way to a wedding a few yrs back (and Step-git wouldnt stop car)...So i'm a stone virgin....Just sit up on Lewes Mound every now and then, and only Rodney Castleden seems to think that's a mini-Silbury (by ratio, angle and scale) and not just some 'modern' construct....Which reminds me, wonder if i can catch the christians, this easter, sticking their cross in the mound to 'ward off evil and unclean gods' - or whatever they think they're doing...Cheers!
