Aye, old news. The replica was placed over the stone around 1980, about the time of Dr Campbell's archaeological survey of the area, which turned up some very interesting information. It's a good idea in my book, ensuring no further deterioration of this highly symbolic site takes place but enabling people to carry on playing at putting their foot in the carving!
