Ah ha - that's where we went wrong - we trudged/yomped/faltered/glowed to the left (nice waterfall though but very misty up top)

Admittedly the handy sign post is a little skew-wiff, but heading off to the left takes you well away fom the Druid's Circle. Keep Conwy Bay in view on the right, and you won't go far wrong. Or shouldn't. :o)
