Ye bugs! Nice one Mac!

You know, I didn't realise you could stay at the farm. I thought the bath-house was the only accomodation near Rumbling Kern (bath-house = very nice but very pricey).

Rumbling Kern and Howick haven are such ideal spots for prehistoric stuff. Did you notice the giant (presumably natural) cup mark on the west side of the outcrop of the Haven? That thing has bugged me for yonks. It has a counterpart at Bowden Doors.

Well chuffed. I hope it's the real deal. I do love that spot so. It has particularly significance to me as it's where the ashes of one of my best mates were scattered. He'd have been very pleased to hear it may have been a significant spot back in the waybackwhen :)

Hob - many thanks!

Haven't seen the large feature you describe - where about's is it exactly and I'll have a look when I'm next there.

Haven't stayed at the farm for nearly 5 years now (just counted back with the age of the kids and I'm shocked it's that long ago) but it was a great place to stay then. Very reasonable price for quite basic but clean farm cottage and very friendly people! Nowhere near as posh as the bath-house - from what I can tell by peering in the windows :-)

This spot has LOTS going for it, I do a bit of diving and there is a wreck right next to the coast just under the bath-house that I've always wanted to dive (you can see bits of iron work at low tide), plus lots of great marine life I've been told from people who've dived there.

The interesting thing Rockart pointed out to me is the range of dates around the area how with the roundhouse and the "Hillfort" (as so often is the case not too impressed with the defensive nature of what remains or the location from a totally "fort" point of view).

When you are next there have a look at the field boundary that the hillfort sits in nearest the farm track by the settlement. There is either a big ditch here or the farm track itself takes on a "sunken road" look on the right hand side. Way too impressive to just be field drainage.
