Clearly the Quoit and access to it need fencing off from the rest of the field, it's in EH care so that's what they should do - care for it, Left to their own devices they really couldn't care less, It always feels a bit unloved to me, When i was there at the end of December i did notice how messy it all was.
You should have told me you were visiting Paul and I would have come over to see you.
Here's my updated report:
http://theheritagetrust.wordpress.com/2013/02/17/trethevy-quoit-put-at-risk-2/They should have the whole field taken off them or at the very least made to sell it to EH [Who would still put sheep in the field "to keep the grass down" though], How can the person who owns the field not care about something that's stood there for getting on 6000 years, it makes me so mad/sad, it's all very well us lot caring about our heritage, What about everyone else, In this disposable world these places that have stood there for 1000's of years should be more important than ever but it always seems the average joe public doesn't care less about sod all beyond themselves, I also think EH and the NT have had their days as custodians of prehistoric monuments because they care far more about stately homes and castles, I mean Stonehenge was donated to the nation not just for the NT to ring as much money out of it that they can, if they can't/don't make money out of somewhere, there not interested in the slightest eg the only way we'll see a fence protecting trevthevy is if we build one ourselves [and we'd get into trouble for it!!!] because they [the farmer or EH] won't pay money out for it, the best we can hope for is that EH make the farmer put an electric fence around it, but that's only because of your pushing for it Roy, you're the reason something will hopefully get done, keep up the great work, you're a star.
