Ok, to play devils advocate (only slightly though) is it only me that thinks this is all a bit silly ?
This is a 30yr old "work", i say work because it's not art is it, i can't personally determine what i'd call it but for me it's not within the remit of this site. If there's a chance this could jeapordise 250m quids worth of local investment in somewhere where it sounds like it's badly needed then i'd have no qualms relocating it. I've a self built circle in my garden, but if i move out should the next owner have to preserve my 5 year old folly ?
(Sorry Paul ;) )
Is this meant to be in the sighthill thread? The circle we built in Lincoln had the stones right near it but when they pulled them out with a digger and took them away, we didn't know where they'd took them, well a few weeks later me and the fella that built it with me were having a wander [and this is as crazy as it sounds] and i needed a wee so i went into the bushes and started having one, i then realized i was weeing on some stones, so i moved the nettles and undergrowth and couldn't believe it when i saw our stones dumped in the undergrowth, the council must have told the van driver to dump them somewhere, what's the chances of me pissing on them in the middle of nowhere? It's mental even now to think about, anyway i got a friend with a van to help and we picked them up and i built another circle in my garden [which also took 7 hours to build, the same time as the other to the minute], and when we got the chance for an exchange down here the stones didn't come into it, they are just stones at the end of the day, but the woman we exchanged with sent a thank you note and a little drawing of the circle so it was a nice surprise for her and at least she liked it, but if that circle survives it might fool people because it's even got some worked flint amongst the packers, anyway to me the first circle we built was marking a very special spot/circle indeed, were many happenings have taken place, the 2nd one in my garden i saw as more of a work of art, although i did feel the stones clearly [because of that wee] ended up where they were meant to end up.
