Its definately been attacked again since your visit, i would say it had been done on the Sunday i photgraphed it as the dust from it was still lying on the stone.
i looked for the stone used to but nothing was apparent i think your right and a hammer was used.

My photos were taken on the Saturday, and the stone was freshly damaged, I blew off the dust to check out the damage to the underlying stone prior to taking my photo, the dust present at your visit confirms the repeat attack.

I’ve visited the Pikestones many times over the years, and they’ve always suffered unwanted attention but this is the worst since the carving of that spiral.

I’ll check out Pikestones again this weekend for any further damage (I’m only 20mins away)
