I think that the three day "rule" is probably to do with the fact that the "stars" have to fit Time Team in around their jobs. Most probably can't get a full week, or, better still, a month off.
I agree, it would be great if more could be completed, but then how long would be enough for some of the sites, such as the one being discussed? No-one can say how long a dig will take before it's agreed that they've gone far enough for the time being. Funding usually dictates to a great extent, as does the desire to leave enough for archaeologists of the future.
They still put together a pretty good programme considering the time limits, don't they?

I agree, they do remarkably well for just three days and look how much would not be discovered if it wasn't for TT. Some of the places they go to are not on anyones agenda's and were never likely to be. With all the cutbacks taking place it it comforting to know that they are still out their providing us with our weekly 'fix'. May it long continue.
