Thanks for that Mortimer. I was a bit puzzled by the odd parallel trench elaboration on either side. Have you ever seen anything like that before? The cup-marked area is outlined in a rectangle, when seen from above. Perhaps it was something to do with modification for use in penal times.

I think your surmising was spot on in the main posting Gordon ,but I can't think of anything similar .
