And I thought you were old enough to remember her silver jubilee (up to two thousand beacons counting the unofficial ones) in 1977, if not Victoria's jubilee in 1887....

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors are normally involved in organising them so they might be able to give some advice.

I've been thinking about a wicker man - making one, perhaps - and suspect this was the origin of the Penny for the Guy stuff. The site that has the wood is not secure - it'd take a couple of days to construct - and the site that has the view and security lacks the wood. At the moment I'm just starting to collect support, permissions and hemp rope (rather than terylene) and, at the present rate of progress, I should be ready by the queen's Golden Jubilee! Robin Hood's Bay perhaps, or Quayside West...
