Ah yes, Kevin Myers. Wouldn't expect anything less from him, rash moralistic pontification without actually examining the issues in any depth. I would agree, finish the bloody motorway, in any of the alternative routes that dont bulldoze through one of the two valleys in Ireland that are world famous.
I'd love to put it to Kevin Myers that if there was a mountain range at Tara instead of a historic valley would we have to do without a motorway at all? Of course not, tunnelling through a mountain would be economically unsound when you could just go around it. The problem is not with the motorway, its the fact that people dont weigh up whether the cost to Irish heritage is worth skimping on a few extra kilometers.
