If you define a nimby as anyone that cares about ancient sites then yes 95% are nimby's. From what I've seen the Tara campaign has much greater support than Thornborough has been able to muster so far - a lot of that comes from the states. It takes a great deal to get accademics in the UK to agree about anything so 320 on that letter is a goodly number.

Actually, I've just thought of a new term - we are not nimby's, we are winby's! We Want It In Our Backyard!

I tend to agree about the road thing, but I think Irish public opinion may not care about it's government grossly wasting European money whereas if equiped with the right information they would agree that 3km's of the route could be re-routed - although in reality there's little need for it I agree (from the albeit very limited experience I has of it).

It's odd that it is "not the done thing" for countries to question the planning decisions of others even though it is our money they are spending. Now there's a campaign idea - "Sun says hands off Tara - it's a billion Euro motorway con" ;o)
