It only costs twenty three pee to have something hallmarked, after a minimum fee of sixteen quid and the cost of the transport both ways. My nearest centre is Sheffield, though Newcastle had its own hallmark many years ago. I've a couple of Georgian spoons with the three castles mark but, sadly, they don't match. (They'd make lovely earrings).
