The two stones I first pointed out near Tremar about six years ago it seems are modern. The new photos show drill marks which only started being used after 1800. The theory that the two stones might have been one and then cut in half I am not sure about. With all the other stones lying around, why cut one into two bits. I think it more likely that the stones have been placed there in the last 200 years.
Are these the two stones that are being referred to as Foggy and Compo ? According to the co-ordinates and bearing to Trethevy provided by the photographer they are closer to Higher Tremarcoombe not Tremar .If they are those at Tremar do you have a grid ref co-ordinates please ?

Foggy and Compo are in an axe-shaped (!) field .87 kilometres from the Quoit on a bearing of 295 degrees. Their position is 50.27.47N 4.27.59W.
I proceed on the understanding that they are modern rubbing posts due to the drill marks on Foggy, but their shape and relation to the quoit continue to fascinate. They do not form part of the present astronomical survey.
However I do not dismiss them entirely; they took me long enough to find!
Apologies for any confusion. I will endeavour to be more clear in future.
