Hi Brian , I've never seen it . I think Morris mentions it somewhere and claims it was a local , maybe the initialler . There was a stone with rings found not that far there about 10 years ago and Traprain Law has some fancy stuff but a spiral on a big boulder , as opposed to a vertical surface , or bedrock , in East Lothian does sound a bit iffy .

Just back from our Northumberland break, I was surprised by this nice photo of the Cockle Stone in the online Scotsman. Ta Brian!
Even more surprised by the fact that Rhiannon found the link to Morris' story about the stone on BRAC; great!
What I can't understand is the fact that those East Lothian Council officials didn't consult Canmore database.
Anyway, Kenny Smith's photo makes a nice addition to the Contemporary Rock Art collection:
