Mr Tempest - you know damn well I mean that the stones are people who have been petrified for playing "Trippet" on the Sabbath!

And If I need to elucidate further, by "Sabbath", I refer to the holy day rather than the band. ;)

I was going to have a quiet night tonight with a bit of easy reading...now you gone and got me researching things....

Like all these stone things down here it is hard to know when the names came into being...my first thought is that the Tri part of the name is a derivative of Tre...the Cornish prefix meaning farm or homestead...but what the Pit bit means i aint a clue..
