Last week, after watching the Avebury TV prog, I took the view that whilst stone-burning should not be recommended to the general public, there was a clear and demonstrable archaeological justfication for a properly conducted experiment.

However, since the program, I have had the chance to read the words and justifications of the archeaologist responsible, and now consider him to be a wassock of the first order, the kind of arrogant buffoon that thinks nothing of destroying something in order to try to understand it, thus denying future generations their historical inheritance.

in this regard, he is worthy successor to the generations of barrow diggers that went before, throwing away the "rubbish" of cremation pots in their search for buried treasure ...
