I've passed through this place on the A487 numerous times and there even seems to be a mound near the road on private land. I'd like to find out more about the history of this area, so sources would be gratefully appreciated if anyone can cast light on it.

There are many prehistoric sites - upland cairns, dolmens, hillforts... - within the extended area... arguably the finest being this:

Suggest a good starting point would be to use the 'Sites within 20km' feature on that page?

You can browse anything on the HERs on here:https://rcahmw.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=560b673d549341e1aad78c12e2145592

You need to select the layers you want to see for archaeology.

Thanks both of you!
