Oh lord. Someone stop them.

Detectorists is finished. It is over. Complete. I loved it. Probably my favourite TV series ever. Perfect cast. Beautifully written. Brilliant location shooting. Perfectly formed 3-DVD Boxset too. Finished and tied with a bow.

Can we have another five series worth please? Or just a one-hour Christmas Special next year? What happens when baby grows up? Lee Brady... pleeeease, listen to yourself! All the attendant problems of diminishing directorial interest, nicely optimistic open/dead-ended plot finale, non-availability of cast members, shrinking audiences busy with cat videos and porn... but someone has decided they want some more, the party isn't allowed to end...

I think the petitioner will have more luck petitioning Mr Cope to reform The Teardrop Explodes.

You expressed very well what I was thinking HD. However, in real life I'm not really an argumentative person so decided to say nothing. Its worth pointing out though, the still funny and now iconic 'Fawlty Towers' only ran for two series with six episodes in each, twelve episodes in total. Astute move on behalf of the writers, John Cleese and Connie Booth.

Mackenzie Crook is clearly a writing superstar. Maybe he could get some more mileage out of the same characters taking up fishing or bird watching.

Or megalithomania. ;)
