Hi Lisa,

Was just looking at East Ayrshire on here, it's a very unrepresented area at the moment:

But the ones site that sticks out is a very impressive rock art site. Be very interested to know what others make of your markings. What kind of rock are the stones?

There are quite a lot of interesting things around the area. Many are lost like a bronze age sword and spear heads discovered when they were cutting through to make the train line across the road from us and I'm sure many sites have been destroyed by farmers for dry stone walls, like a recorded Cairn at our neighbours farm in which an urn was found.

The Ballochmyle carvings are amazing ... they are not really known too well even to locals - either it's for protection from vandals or as the nice woman told me as she gave me directions (got very lost) the council don't want problems with health and safely and have to pay out to install a proper path to get to see them.

I still have other things to photograph and will add in due course ... not sure of the type of rock of that particular bolder.

Lisa

Be great to see what you have. And obviously any other stuff from the sites in your area.
