My comment was based on more recent holes seen and photographed by Alan S who is down there at present and who emailed me about it.

My thanks to the BBC were indeed ironic.

For the avoidance of doubt, my prediction was that "newbies" would do such things, not seasoned detectorists and yes I still blame the Beeb for not doing their homework.

But I'm not going to get into this any further. It may be claimed that that's because I don't have any proper arguments. I can stand that!
