Totally agree it was immensely well done and enjoyable. I could watch it all day. Which doesn't excuse the bad stuff (including spending two series on detecting on what looked like permanent pasture rather than disturbed ploughsoil, which is totally against the code of conduct agreed by all sides and which will lead to more damaging copycating).

The Xmas special has them visiting the BM which suggests they get a big Treasure reward - not just from the jewel but from all the other treasure we know is there. So they'll get millions presumably. It'll be interesting to see if they called archaeologists out to do a proper excavation like the Code requires or if they followed Lance's poisonous but very commonly voiced mantra on detecting forums "If in doubt, dig it out".
