I'm off to sunny Cornwall( yippee), my beloved St Agnes ( double yippee), only for a week (boo).I've got an itinerary, Boscawan-un; Halligye fogou;the Hurlers etc. Please could you advise me as to your favourites. I've never seen a quoit or a dolmen. Easy access would be best cos of hop a long! Thankyou in advance.
I expect the sea will be nice & warmed up by now. Can't wait.

Lucky you, hopefully there will be some settled sunny weather for you.

I can't help much with Bodmin Moor because public transport is essentially non-existent but plenty of others on here know it well. I can heartily recommend Fernacre and Stannon stone circles that I finally managed to get to this summer.
For west Cornwall, most of the best-known sites are relatively easy to access. All four West Penwith circles are very special and very different to each other (Tregeseal, Boskednan, Boscawen-un, Merry Maidens). Merry Maidens has a car park (yuck) and a bus stop (yay). Lanyon Quoit is the easiest of the four most complete ones, but Chun and Zennor are much better places to visit. Bit of uphill to them though and Zennor can be tricky to find in mist if you've not been before.
Staying in St Agnes, the Beacon has some cairns - not the best examples but it's a very good viewpoint and is visible for many miles around.
A bit SSW (and possibly on your way to Halligye) is the recently restored and very easy to access Carwynnen Quoit. If you've never seen one, it's in a unusual low-lying position but is the one I'd recommend if ease of access and impressiveness of monument are your considerations.

Obviously will look forward to your notes and pics!

I'm with thesweetcheat on this one - Cornwall is where I dream about when the going gets tough in urban life ... closely followed by West Cork which is not quite as accessible. Here's hoping for some late summer sunshine - I was in St. Ives late September last year and had wonderful weather. Happy Holiday Carol xI expect the sea will be nice & warmed up by now. Can't wait.

A few years ago I wrote up some 'wanderings' around West Penwith, taking in many of the major sites. My articles can be found here: https://heritageaction.wordpress.com/?s=penwith+wanderings as can my notes about various of the Cornish stone circles https://heritageaction.wordpress.com/?s=cornish+stone+circles
West Penwith is a place I know quite well now, and love dearly but I don't know the Bodmin area anywhere near as well. Feel free to shout with any questions though - a lot of people here are well versed in the Cornish sites.

Got back from East Cornwall last week - finally got to see Duloe Stone Circle - small, lovely vibe, very underrated quartz circle.
Lots of lovely stuff at the other end of Cornwall - I like Boskawen Un, and recommend a visit to Carn Kenidjack and Tregeseal - I had a weird experience there in the late 90's but would really like to return for another look.
