I have seen reviews of the new style Brasher walking boots and apparently the soles someway from the upper. Vulcanised I guess. I have a pair of Scarpa Baltoro GTX Suede and Fabric boots which are quite good, very comfortable, but did let a bit of water in on my last trip over the long tussocky grass on Bodmin Moor. I was in long wet boggy train all day though and only got a bit damp. I have waterproofed them since the last outing but haven't been out to try them since.
