Having a drink outside the Red Lion with some friends while waiting for the 49 bus - late afternoon, a 'friendly' policeman walked around us with a sniffer dog. The bus was late and we were treated to the sight of horse drawn caravans of travelers heading to Avebury for the celebrations.
I'm not entirely sure how to read this statement! For example, why is the word friendly in quotes?
Why do you think I put the word friendly in quotes - it surely doesn't take much imagination to picture a group of people have a harmless drink (non-alcoholic in most cases). One of them lights up a roll-up (containing just that 'harmless' substance tobacco) when we find a policeman with a sniffer dog circling our table. OK, he was smiling as he did it.

Read my post however you want to - I was in subtle sort of way just saying Avebury and its surrounds is wonderful but tread carefully if you plan to go there for the solstice with some wacky baccy as there is a very visible police presence.
