I've just re-read the article and find it ironic that the "findings have re-opened a bitter academic dispute". To study 'primitive' tribal communities of today in an attempt to understand how people lived in the past seems limited. The Old Testament (which I'm assuming was written in what we call the Bronze Age) talks about conflicts between different tribes or peoples.

Anyone who lived part of their lives in the 20th Century (most of us) lived under the shadow of two world wars, the cold war which followed, and the threat nuclear oblivion. In the 21st Century we live under different but imminent dark clouds - the exploding global population; the diminishing resources of our pillaged planet; the ever growing need to find new energy sources. I agree with you HSD that 'the few' seem to have great and disproportionate wealth while 'the many' look on struggling to survive and mutter about revolution. It is not just the Queen we should be looking at though but the Corporate Giants who work hand in hand with our so called elected leaders to control Energy, Food and Water. We are living in dark times however much we bury our heads in the sand - very sadly wars seem inevitable.
