Well on the rubric it says 'place of a stone taken away' for a dot? Some of them have even got dates haven't they. And as you say the ring stone is on the same level.

Aye, thats what I thought, but, and I know we're getting into some detail here(!), but the "stone taken away" dots (outer circle) seem to be slightly bigger than the ring stone dots.

I think the dates are referring to missing stones from the outer circle only.
